The Setting
The decor includes a large front curlicue window, "Casablanca" style, with a matching little village of similar panes high in the back and a few large rectangle pillows for small group sit-ins. The wide range of mellow music includes Spanish, Greek, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean-influenced sounds--in the manager's words, "world ambient global fusion."
Treats
The bar is entirely exempt from the new tobacco laws. If you like some wine with your cigarette or hookah, the full bar offers excellent red wines from around the world, as well as tasty bar snacks like mixed olives and salted almonds. Relaxed and unself-conscious, Kush is a fairly successful American attempt at the Middle Eastern atmosphere, with the pleasantly odd dual qualities of the simple and exotic.
