The Scene
University City's 609 Restaurant features seasonal fusion cuisine -- clever food combinations with Asian and American influences. To drink, enjoy a Schlafly draft or choose from the relatively compact wine list, which includes heavy hitters such as the Chateau St. Jean Pinot Noir and the Penfolds Thomas Hyland. Then, start your meal off with the crab "Rangoon" Napoleon or the 609 organic salad, topped with crispy noodles and a ginger lemongrass vinaigrette. Seasonal specialties range from a drunken seafood noodle bowl to a green tea dusted Mahi Mahi. Desserts such as the chocolate banana turtle will definitely satisfy your sweet tooth. As you sit back, you'll notice that the dining area has a contemporary look, with black and silver chairs, blue table tops and generous splashes of purple throughout the room. Relish in an ambiance that encourages conversation between courses and DJ spins. A glass partition with a large 609 looks right at home near the hostess station, and after dinner, you can slip through the sliding door to the U Lounge -- which has a similar fun, urban feel -- for a relaxing conversation.
